Louisiana Fishing Report September 2025

A little relief from the heat but not much. The summer heat has not let up. Most of September we were dealing with hot, humid temps just like August. Luckily the bite was consistent and we were able to stay on a good redfish, sheepshead, speckled trout bite along with some nice flounder slabs. During nice weather days we hit the sound for deeper water structure and were catching nice trout in the 15" - 20" range along with a ton of bull reds over 40". Sometimes we had to weed through the bull reds and reel trout in fast enough to keep from getting robbed by the bull reds. But it made for some fun, action packed days on the water. Similar to August, hitting reefs in 3'-5' of water early in AM were producing a mix of specked trout and white trout. On the calm days when we hit the sound early those trout grew 5-10 inches. Sheepshead are a plenty right now. You can catch all the sheepshead you want on dead or live shirmp on bottom on just about any structure you can find in 5 to 18 foot of water. Finding good tide lines an reasonably cool water produced slot reds along with a slew of big bull reds. Live Campo's shrimp on popping cork or working live shrimp on Carolina rig in deeper water kept the fishing biting.
