The speckled trout have moved in! The trout bite is on fire. We have been catching a lot of 12" - 15" trout and have been having to throw back a lot of 12" trout but the bite has been fast and furious and even weeding through some of the smaller trout, there are enough 13"-15" trout mixed in to put nice boxes together. We are catching most of our trout is 6'-10' of water under popping cork with 3-4 foot leaders. Shallow water rigs have been producing some nice catches with a mix of trout, black drum and sheepshead. Redfish have been easy to find along rock jetties and marsh points with good tide movement. Both rising and falling tides have been producing nice catches throughout April. Live shrimp along with Marker 54 glide shrimp have been catching most of the trout while only live shrimp have been catching redfish and sheepshead. We had 2 groups catch tagged speckled trout so far this spring. Both were 16" and were reported and release to live another day. We expect a strong spawn this spring and have noticed much bigger trout moving in towards the end of April. It wont be long before the big hammer trout show up.
