Hook Dat Fishing Charters Louisiana Fishing Report - March 6, 2022

The fishing has been great the last few weeks. With the weather warming and low offshore winds, our charter captains have had the opportunity to get offshore and chase some pleagics like Tuna, King Mackerel, Bonito, Sharks and Wahoo. Drift fishing with cut pogies and cut bonito over shallow humps and drop offs in 200 - 300 foot of water worked best. Kings were destroying the jigs. The inshore fishing has also been very good. Redfish and sheepshead are thick when you find them. The speckled trout bite has been hit and miss. If you find good water clarity and a medium tide they are schooling up in decent numbers and quality size, but the bite has not been consistently good. It wont be long and the speckled trout will be schooled up in big numbers. The redfish are fat and plentiful. Most of the reds we are catching are in the 24" - 30" range and some well over 36". We are hoping this last cold front getting ready to move through our area will be the last and we can start targeting speckled trout with more consistent success.
